touch too much, 2018

Comfort Station - Chicago, IL August 4-26
Touch Too Much is an exhibition of recent works by Marie Baldwin and Regina Mejico that address intimacy and vulnerability - how we succeed and fail in our expression of desire. Central narratives that drive the work are dichotomous notions of bodily pleasure and discomfort, as well as an inability to communicate and express emotion. Baldwin and Mejico do not investigate confusion - they wade through it, finding themselves creating hyperbolic totems towards corporeal pleasure and prudence, continually wavering between the two. The works demonstrate a desire for understanding, but an inability of getting there. They overshare, assume too much, say too little, and fly too close to the sun.
